一、课程的性质与仟务
英语口语是当今中国学生必修的一门课程，也是十分重要的工具课。
根据中等职业学校的生源特点与培养目标，口语教学的任务是，使学生在原有英语知识的基础上，巩固、扩大基础知识，增大词汇量，注重培养学生在日常生活与服务行业进行交际的能力，使其在毕业后能与英、美国家的人沟通，英浯口语教学也应成为培养学生具有良好的思想品德，热爱社会主义祖国思想教育的一个重要方面。
二、确定教学内容的原则
确定教学内容的原则是遵循语言教学的一般规律和学生的认知规律，反映中等职业学校的特点，做到注重基础，循序渐进，梯度适当，强化能力，实际实用。
根据以上原则，在确定教学内容时要求做到以下几点：
1课文主题与年轻人生活、思想紧密相关，题材广泛，多是年轻人感兴趣且乐于交谈的题目。
2、训练由易到难，循序渐进，练习精心设计，形式生动活泼。
3、培养学生全面的口语能力，包括叙述、对话、交谈、讨论、辩论等多种能力。
三、教学要求与教学内容
听
1、能听懂课堂用语，并做出相应的反应。
2、能听懂教师用学生所学过的英语解释新的语言现象和教学内容。
3、能听懂对方在学生所学过的语言范围内，用略慢的语速谈有关日常生活的内容，偶尔需要对方重复。
4、能基本听懂没有生词、题材熟悉、难度略低于所学材料的语段。语速为每分钟110-120个词。
5、能听懂广播、电视及其他音像制品中，与本学段水平相当的语言材料。除教材外，泛听总量应达到40小时以上。
说
1、能就课文的内容较熟练地进行问答并能进行简单的讨论。
2、能较熟练、灵活地运用《日常交际用语》表中的内容，围绕日常生活的话题，进行初步的交际。
